Foundations Of VectorWorks,
Beyond The Foundations,
and Even Further Beyond
presented by Janis Kent
Day 4. Rendering in VectorWorks, presented by Dan Jansenson

Day 1 ~ The Foundations Of VectorWorks - the environment

Unlock the secrets of making VectorWorks a more efficient tool and you a more productive user. Learn what everyone working with the program should know.

We will look at how to work within the overall environment and parameters of VectorWorks in a lecture/demo format which is informal enough for people to ask questions. This seminar will get the new user up and running quickly and will also provide the experienced user with many useful tips and time saving hints. Topics we will cover include setting up a sheet, Preference settings and what they can do for you, the different types of objects in VectorWorks, using the Constraints palette in conjunction with the smartcursor and many other items. Those who are attending this seminar should have a basic understanding of their computer operating system and know how to work with it.

Day 2 ~ Beyond the Foundations - organization

Become a more proficient user with an intensive look at the capabilities of VectorWorks. Attend this seminar to enhance your ability to create and modify objects as well as master techniques for organizing objects and the drawing. An intensive look at organizing and more efficiently using VectorWorks in a lecture/demo format. We will look at the different aspects of VectorWorks that allows you to more effectively create, organize, and view objects and track information, and at the same time enable you to implement standards for your drawings. Topics that we will cover include using layers and classes, setting up a visibility matrix for viewing and printing, creating custom commands that remember the appropriate default settings plus many other items including symbol and worksheet introduction.

Those attending this seminar should either have attended the first seminar or have a strong basic understanding of the VectorWorks environment.

Day 3 ~ Even Further Beyond - intro to 3D

Delve into the third dimension within VectorWorks and learn how to create, modify, and view 3D objects. Understand the ins and outs of the different types of 3d objects; VectorWorks native, solids, boolean, meshes, hybrids, and plug-ins. An intensive look at the various types of 3-dimensional objects in VectorWorks in a lecture/demo format which is informal enough for people to ask questions. Topics we will cover will be how to create objects in 3D including the ins and outs of walls, Extrudes, Sweeps, Meshes, booleans, and the use of 3D tools. Learn to use the new features of the Resource Browser and then once it is all there, how to set up multi-view documents.

Those attending this seminar should either have attended the second seminar or have a strong basic understanding of the overall environment and organization in VectorWorks.

Day 4 ~ Rendering in VectorWorks

Now that you have a project, how do you present it. Use this half-day seminar to learn practical methods to create presentations that enhance your project using RenderWorks. Understand differences between shaders and textures and how to create effects with lighting. And finally, go through examples of rendering typical elements from your drawing.

Those attending this seminar should either have attended the Day 3 seminar or have a strong basic understanding of the 3d world in VectorWorks.
